What is Steering Wheel?
The steering wheel is an essential and often overlooked component of every vehicle. It is the primary tool for controlling and directing a car, truck, bus, or other motorized vehicles. The steering wheel was originally invented in the late 19th century to replace the tiller used for turning horse-drawn carriages, providing more control over the vehicle’s direction. Today’s modern steering wheels are much more sophisticated than their predecessors but still serve the same purpose: they provide drivers with a way to easily turn their vehicles in any direction they choose. The most basic part of a steering wheel is its rim and spokes, which allow drivers to easily grip it while turning. Many modern cars also feature airbags within their steering wheels that deploy if a crash occurs. Other common features on today’s steering wheels include buttons for audio controls, cruise control systems, and even driver assistance systems like lane-keeping technology or automatic emergency braking (AEB). To ensure that drivers have maximum control over their vehicles when using the steering wheel, manufacturers also often incorporate features such as power assist mechanisms or intuitively designed knobs and buttons into their designs. These features make it easier for drivers to precisely maneuver their cars according to their needs without having to exert too much effort on the wheel itself. The importance of having a reliable and efficient steering wheel cannot be overstated; after all, it is ultimately responsible for keeping passengers safe by allowing them to maneuver around obstacles in order to reach their destination safely and accurately. That’s why most manufacturers continue to invest heavily in improving upon existing designs so that they can offer consumers higher levels of performance when driving in any circumstance imaginable.
