Racial Discrimination in Organization Sector Essay Example
The authors’ main argument is about the radicalization of some people in the community based on color, poor, immigrants, same-sex couples (Trans people) and the queer are discriminated by the society. He is against this discrimination and advocates a better and equal society whereby every individual is treated with respect and equity (Battle, 2005, 412). Moreover, institutions should adopt policies that are non-discriminative to certain kinds of persons when offering jobs. The people should have adequate wages that are non-oppressive.
The author uses examples to explain his argument, he says that shift in priorities over the years has changed the intended purpose of such groups to fight for the human rights. ...ited States have been there for long since independence despite the much improvement in technology and civilization (Kasson, 1999, 1800). The author can support his arguments, and this tends to be his or her strength in putting across his argument.
Despite that strength, the author commits straw man fallacy. Purdue OWL defines it as ‘attributing the worst possible motive to an opponent’s position’ (Weber and Brizee). It is exemplified in the course reading when he says that “moving towards social services and legal reform projects aimed at the underlying courses of poverty and injustice. This claim is fallacious because it attributes the worst possible motive to non-profit sector he goes further to argue that they chase after philanthropist dollars. By this, the author is not treating the organizations with respect or refuting their positions.
Conclusion
Although the autho
brings forward the discrimination to groups of people and injustices in organizations, he doesn’t present the real issues affecting the American people. He can do so by further research, on the people's livelihood, he can interview the immigrants, the poor, the colored and the trans people to come up with a more elaborate and accurate argument.
