I was born in a small town in India, where I lived there for 12 years. Many people surrounding me did not take my birth with as much joy as my my family, most importantly my grandfather. In India, people expect you to have one son in the family at least. But my family was never shameful to just have one daughter. At the age of 11, my parents and I moved to the united states. It was the most challenging phase of my life. It was huge transition in my life. Since making a jump from knowing everyone around you to not knowing anyone. Not being able to speak the language properly or understanding it. It was the biggest jump I have ever made in my life. Recently my Grandfather was diagnosed with throat cancer. My
...family and I found out when the cancer had begun to spread.
When my grandfather was told he had been diagnosed with cancer, he lost his confidence and hope. That was the only time in my life when, I have seen my grandfather have no desire for anything in life. He is known to be a cheerful and confident individual all his lifetime. In his life, all he ever drement was for me to be independent. He has seen so many hardships in his lifetime. Since I was born, it was very difficult for people to accept me as a girl. But my grandfather has always had faith and confidence in me. He has never wanted me to rely on anyone for anything. My desire to work in this field is not only based on these dreams, however. Fo
the last couple of years, I have worked in different settings in the pharmacy field. In that time, my interest in and passion for the profession have only grown.
Specifically, I have worked in both community and chain pharmacies. Though the two experiences have differed from each other, both have taught me valuable lessons that I will carry with me for many years. For example, at the community pharmacy, I have seen customers go from “patients” to “family.” At CVS, where I work as a pharmacy technician, I’ve learned everything from complicated computer systems to the nuances of federally-regulated insurance plans. At both pharmacies I’ve helped ensure patients receive the right medication in the proper dosages. It means the world to me that patients ask about me when I am not there. I have grown very much as an individual. It was new path which i had to decide, what choices i should make. I have been opened to many other opportunities.I am always being myself and having a positive attitude towards new challenges. Which will help me later on in my life. Also, it lead me to make better decisions in life. I even learned about many new cultures. My family has been my biggest support. I have always wanted to make them proud for having a girl. I hope you will grant me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in this wonderful field through your program.
