My brother sam is dead essay

During ''My Brother Sam Is Dead'' there were many scenes that contained graphic violence. For example, ''Have you ever looked into the eyes of a man with his throat cut off and the blood pouring out between his fingers, knowing that there was nothing he could do, in five minates he would be dead, yet still trying for grace and not being able because his windpipe was cut in two?'' says Mr. Meeker. Another graphic violence displayed was Ned, an African slave owned by a man, Samuel Smith got stabbed in the stomach and his head cut off. Tim wasn't excited about the British army anymore because of the amount of violence.

The deaths of Sam and Mr. Meeker were Ironic. Both of them were killed by the side they supported. Even though father's death was of cholera he was on the prison ship and didn't get help. Then, Sam was executed by his soldiers and died with his own dies.

In between scenes, characters in the story ''My Brother Sam Is Dead'' would state comments on the effect of the war on Redding and civilizations. For example, Tim thought the war would bring bottles and a very great change, unfortunately it didn't. Mr. Meeker threw a man out of the tavern for the British army's criticism. Tim also realized the tories disarm weapons from the tavern.

The book ''My Brother Sam is Dead'' was an anti-war theme book. Many characters expressed their true opinion on the war and the dramatic and violent scenes. Through out the chapters there were lessons learned from the other characters.

In the story ''My brother Sam is Dead'' the deaths of both Sam and Mr. Meeker were ironic and cruel.
