The “95 Theses” were written by Martin Luther who was a German professor of theology and a priest in 1517. Martin Luther revolutionary ideas acted as a catalyst for the final breaking away from Catholic Church. These ideas were also instrumental in forming the protestant reformation movement. These radical “95 theses” were written to express the growing concern by Luther with the corruption in Catholic Church. These Theses called for Catholic Church full reform and other scholars were challenged to debate with him on church policy matters. The major issue that concerned Luther was the matter of the officials of the church selling indulgences to people as a method of discharging them from their misdeeds.
