What are the rules of a Japanese school system?

It's only mandatory for students to go to school up until grade 9. Many students do continue through high school. You can't wear accessories, chew gum, read books other than your textbooks (AKA manga), bring the wrong color shoes, clothes, or bags, etc. Japanese schooling is very strict and they do not accept excuses
