question
3.0- Toward the end of the nineteenth century, some American politicians and diplomats believed that the United States should become an imperialist power. Write an essay explaining at least three of the points in favor of increased U.S. involvement overseas
answer
First you have to understand imperialism. Imperialism is when a country or someone takes over another one whether political or economic without any consult. Making laws to over ride over countries. Some of the benefits was access to the ports. The United states would have access to raw materials and natural resources, for example oil, timber, or sugar would be utilized to make products. Timber could be used for furniture. Sugar could be used to put in foods. Another point is imperialist believed in national superiority. One of the idea's was social darwinism. Basically social darwinism is when you believe you are superior to others, and should get treated that way. One of the reason's people believed in social darwinism was because they believed that god granted them the right and responsibility to settle the frontier. Then there was Seward purchase Alaska. Seward purchased Alaska and then everyone starts making fun of him. They called it the 'Seward's ice box' from the fact that he bought the land and Alaska only had ice. But later found out that Seward's folly turned out to be rich in timber, oil, and other natural resources.

They all fought for their freedom. Believed that they should be able to be free. They just all did it different and in different parts of the world. Martí wanted to free Cuban's. He was a Cuban patariot. He fought for independence and created war, for freedom. Emilio was a philipean nationalist. He wanted his freedom. He help the Americans in the Spanish-American war. He helped Americans fight against Spanish so he could be free from Spanish. Villa was a rebel leader and help the mexico. But got chases for a while until the general gave up and left.
question
4.0- Mark Twain and others in the American Anti-Imperialist League condemned U.S. involvement in the Philippines. How do you think this group would have feel about U.S. involvement today in global affairs as the world's lone remaining superpower? How would imperialists such as President McKinley view the situation? Write a detailed essay stating the main points of each side?
answer
I believe that they would be against what we are doing today. In Afghanistan, we got involved with them by invading their natural resources and raw materials. The Anti- Imperialist's would totally be upset how we've been. Back in 1899, McKinley believed that we could not give the Philippine's back to Spain he believed that it was dishonorable and cowardly. He believed that they had no choice but to take them all and educate them while uplifting and civilizing them. McKinley would believe that they were taking their recourses when those people could need it. Like taking sugar from Hawaii.
