of arguments in a general manner, the rogerian argument. These are highly stylized exchanges of ideas that include opposition points, rebuttals, transitions, subsequent points and conclusions. Therefore, the essay is going to take this kind of format in its argument and explore whether high population is significant to our social and economic aspects.

Population in this context refers to the total number of individuals living in a given area mostly per square kilometer. These people should not be necessarily related by through interactions they end up sharing many things in common. disadvantages. Although some of the justifications given might not be true the right of an individual to give out his opinion and be respected by the other people is applicable in rogueries argument. Population can impact various aspects of life including both the societal and fiscal aspects .By social aspects it implies the interaction between one person to another, an attribute that is brought in by the cultural activities and beliefs. On the other hand the economic aspects of population have to do with the use of activities that are carried out by human beings in order to earn income.

Those that support the argument that increased population is significant to social and economic factor give various arguments to support their claims as they are illustrated below; For instance, it is argued that increased population is a fulfillment of some of the religious beliefs as it is evident in some religion, What happens in this case is that those who are true believers end up obeying the religious teaching and the outcome is an increased population. For the people with this type of attitude, high inhabitants to them implies that they will have fulfilled the will of their creator and in turn increasing the number of believers in the respective places of worshipping .The other social related argument given by those who support the argument is that some see it as a source of wealth especially in regions that people still cling to their traditions .This is whereby those that have many wives and with many children ended up being respected by the rest of members of society. Labor is also another factor that is considered

by those who have got many children since in future they won’t struggle with their routine activities because the children will be in a position to help them do the chores .Economically, there are some reasons that are given in support of high population. For instance, with high population, there is enough supply of Labor to the countries industrial and other constrictive economic activities which ensures that a country is in a position to grow economically because it has active labor force to help it prosper economically .Also with population , there is high market availability of goods and services that are produced within a country .Therefore , instead of a country going to look for the market of its produce outside the country it will be in a position to save on the costs that are associated with transporting goods to foreign nations to look for their market. They also argue that with high population, a nation is in position to ensure maximum utilization of resources in that demand will be high which would make people to increase their efforts in trying to satisfy their needs an act that would see them is in a position to utilize all the resources that were being left idle well. With high population also it will be an advantage for the government in that it will be in a position to increase its revenue from taxes an act that would see the government’s services to the general public improve and this would result into developments.

One the other hand, those that oppose the argument have got also their own perspective of arguing in they tend to belief in

some arguments .For instance high population is perceived to bring some social problems to the society, like theft .This happens in a situation whereby those who are idle find themselves engaging in this illegal acts in order to be in a position to generate some income to feeds their families and for their daily use. High population is also perceived as the main cause of the unemployment that us witnessed in many nations because this high number for population results to people exceeding the number of individuals that job market can be in a position cater for. Diseases are also likely to be spread at a higher rate in places that are highly populated because of strained facilities like toilets which can result to breakout of diseases cholera. Other communicable diseases such as the Tuberculosis can be spread faster in a highly populated areas because of the fact that they are spread via air bearing in mind that people are many and crowded in one place they can easily get the diseases. It can also lead to reduced agricultural production in that the amount of land under cultivation might not be in a position to satisfy the high population due to increased number of the dependants .This can in turn result to increased poverty and malnutrition problems .High population also can result to lack of housing which in turn can lead to the problem of slums.

The emergence of slums can really frustrating in that it can cause the spread of communicable diseases such as cholera which can turn out to be catastrophic. Another argument give to by the opposes of the high populations is that

they argue it can cause over e exploitation of resources .Some of the resources that are commonly used by the human beings are natural while others are non renewable .Those that are non renewable cannot be replaced in the moment they get exhausted from the places where they are found that’s all since they can’t be replaced by the human beings and thus they are ought to be used slowly to avoid early exhaustion .Unemployment is yet another issue of concern for those who are living in high populated place .The issue of unemployment can turn out to be frustrating in especially for those with families that they have to provide basic needs for .Due to the pressure inflicted to the job market , it reaches a point whereby it cannot accommodate any more employees leaving a large number of people jobless. High population is also accountable for the increased destruction of environment .This happens in a situation whereby people due to population pressure start cutting down trees to clear land for cultivation and settlement an act that leads to the destruction of the wild animals habitat and also increased human and wild animal conflict.

The other argument provided by the opposing side is that it can cause strained social amenities in that as the population increases, the number of social amenities which are; schools, hospitals, and public service offices. Whenever these facilities are strained by the increased population, the outcome is that it can lead to poor services. The outcome of the poor services especially in the field of medical facilities can lead to the increased number of the deaths because of poor medical care,

cases which could be prevented if the population was manageable. Population can also be in position to provide for their dependants well without straining their financial ability.

However, despite the fact that the two sides account for the justification of their argument , I stands to oppose the argument that high population is significant to social and economic aspects .After close examination of the two sides of argument I have found that high population is of more harm than the benefits .By the fact that the disadvantages out do the advantages is simply poses more danger than significant .High population cannot be compromised at the expense of people’s lives as they are of more concern. It therefore signifies that we can have manageable population in which people are living comfortable lives instead of having a high population that is just turning lives of people to be worse .Resources was also another point of concern in that they are very essential and basic for the survival of human beings .Actual reality is that high population is that it causes strain of the natural resources which are vulnerable to exhaustion.

Therefore, with increase in the number of human beings the future generations, might be at risk of having scarcity of resources which are essential in production of goods and services. Many social conflicts that emerge come as a result of concentration of people in one place due to population pressure, with reduced population, these cases can be reduced since people are in a position to work together and realize a common goal of ensuring their safety of the community. Good life also happens to be the desire of every

individual, in conjunction to this argument, it therefore implies that the number of individuals that is very significant in achieving this goal of providing good living standards to the people of a particular country.

Therefore, we can conclude that the issue of population is worth to be categorized as a rogerian argument in that it the final decision entirely depends on the perception in which an individual views .Therefore the relevant authorities should reconsider evaluating between the two sides of the argument and make decisive action policies should also be put in place to ensure that the overall outcome favors the economic and the social status of individuals. There are some measures that can be used to control population to prevent it from exceeding to unmanageable state. This would include things like sensitizing the general public on the advantages of having small families that are easy to manage depending on the economic status of the family. There should also be introduction of family planning methods to ensure that people don’t get unplanned pregnancies. Also, people should be encouraged to embrace the modern education that keeps people busy till the right time is realized and also making them to changes their reasoning. I therefore call upon thorough examination of the above argument before making final decision, an act that would see various recommendations being put across to ensure that proper understanding of the implications that come along with the increased population. The decisions that are being realized should also consider the involvement of the general public in order to realize a common agreement that is not vulnerable to biasness.
