\"Israel expected a great leader like Moses who would lead them out of bondage. This Moses-like figure would also strengthen the conscience of the people and rule with justice, unlike previous kings who used their power for their own gain. They hoped for a king like David, who would strengthen the fortunes of Israel and who would establish the Temple so that the Israelites could praise God.\" - Justice like Moses and King like David.

Parable of sower: Some people hear God's word and immediately disregard it. Some people hear God's word with joy but because they have no roots in their faith, they falter easily in the world. Other people hear God's word but the worries (thorns) of their life distract them from God's grace. Finally, others like seed planted on good soil with strong roots, will hear God's word and live fruitfully.

temptations of Jesus: He must tell these stones to become bread then throw himself off the mountain to prove he is the Son of God. Then Satan promises Jesus he will give him the kingdom if he abandons God and follow him instead. Jesus refuses and doesn't test God.

Jesus is the second in the Trinity and the Son of God but that does not refer to him being lesser than God, they are equals.

This refers to the reign of God over God's people and God's creation. It was fundamentally different from the typical Jew of this day. The \"already-not-yet\" view.

\"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.\" Jesus knows each of his sheep (children) personally and he is willing to sacrifice himself for us.

Good Samaritan: Jesus commands an expert of the law to love your neighbor. He tells a parable of a man who was robbed and beaten and people were passing by him and ignoring and avoiding him. When a Samaritan passed by, he took care of the man and had mercy on him and that is how we should treat our neighbors as well.

Atonement it the reconciliation of humanity with God through the sufferings and sacrificial death of Christ. Isaiah 53- \"He was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities...6and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all...8stricken for the transgression of my people...10when his soul makes an offering for sin...11and he shall bear their iniquities...12yet he bore the sin of many.\"

Paul is referring to the crucifixion of Christ and how the message of God is the greatest power. God is superior to anything man can devise for reaching people with the gospel. \"the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men?\"
