Speeches given, pamphlets handed out. -Against the mayor's wishes, the police started to try to make the crowd disperse -Someone throws a pipe bomb at the police!!! (7 policemen are killed and 60 wounded) -Police respond by shooting into crowd killing 4 workers!! -Hundreds of workers were detained -The police beat several people during their investigation -8 people are arrested and tried for murder or conspiracy to commit murder -6 of the 8 were not even at the rally (7 were found guilty- 4 were hanged, one committed suicide, the other 2 were given long prison sentences)- The three unhanged men were later pardoned by Governor John Atlgeld because they did not receive a fair trial -Damage is done. KofL is linked to anarchist by the public(The KofL is basically done and its goals abandoned)
