Voting requirements in VA, the Electoral College, and Third Parties

-must get a large number of signatures on a petition -rarely winners due to financial backing and competition with major parties -3% of votes

-Rep. Incumbent George H.W. Bush -Third Party Ross Perot -Dem. Bill Clinton -Most successful third party;spoiler, Clinton wins

-a US citizen -18 years old -a registered voter -resident of the state for at least 30 days

-method of voting if you are going to be out of town on election day, or if a person is disabled -would include college students and members of the military -must fill out an application ahead of time -recently people with long commutes were added to this list

-where you actually vote -school, community center, fire hall -must bring all necessary documents -checked by challenger to make sure you are on the roll
