            Identify sources and compare them
answer
Source 1: http://www.gcsesciencemethods.co.uk/2016/04/friction-on-block-vs-tilt-angle.html Source 2: http://www.school-for-champions.com/experiments?friction_mesaure_coefficient_with_ramp.htm#.V-zNC9LbK1s Source 1 was helpful as it had a detailed equipment list. Source 2 was helpful as it had a clear diagram. Overall, I preferred source 1 because it also had a safety assessment where as source 2 did not. Name the sources Why was source 1 helpful? Source 2? Which is better?
question
Think about the things you will need to measure. Which measurement do you think will be the most difficult to measure and why?
answer
I will need to measure the amount of Newtons needed to pull a stationary wooden block. It'll be difficult to measure as the indicator inside the newtonmeter will be moving around a lot so it'll be hard to get an accurate reading. Name a measurement Why is it difficult to take the reading?
question
Suggest what you could do to reduce the effect of any errors in this measurement.
answer
You could use a slow motion camera to see what number the indicator is pointing to most of the time. What could you do (use) to reduce any errors?
question
What is your hypothesis and why?
answer
My hypothesis is as the weight of the wooden block increases, the force needed to move the stationary block also increases. The reason it has this effect is because as the weight of a stationary object increases, the friction between the object and the surface it's on also increase because the two are pushed closer together. Therefore, by increasing the weight of the object, the force needed to move the stationary block will also increase because there is more friction occurring between the surface and the block. Write it down Why does it have this effect? Link to your hypothesis (Include IV& DV)
question
            Method
answer
Equipment Diagram Step-by-step instructions Control variables table (3 CV) A risk assessment (3 hazards)
question
How many values of the IV did you use? Was it a suitable number?
answer
I used five values. It is suitable because it is enough to see a pattern and not so many values that the experiment would take too long.
question
Name a control variable. How could you use a preliminary investigation to find a value for it?
answer
One control variable is what type of newtonmeter should be used. I would test ones that could pull the weight of 250g, 500g, 1kg, 2kg and 3kg. The best one would be the one that can pull the wooden blocks weight and would give a clear reading of Newtons but would not give a small reading. Name a control variable State what range would be investigated Say which one would be used and why
question

answer
