Key concepts of nursing roles:

"resource person" - provides specific, needed information that helps the client understand his or her problem and a new situation. *"Counselor" - Listens as the client reviews feelings related to difficulties r/t difficulties he or she is having. Interpersonal techniques are used to solve problems & make decisions concerning difficulties. "Teacher" - identifies learnign needs & provides information to the client or family that may aid in improvement of life situation. Four phases of the nurse-client relationship

1) Orientation - client, nurse, and family work together to recognize, clarify and define the existing problem 2) Identification - Client's may respond in one of three ways: A) On the basis of participation or interdependent with nurse B) On the basis of independence or isolation from nurse C) On the basis of helplessness. 3) Exploitation- Client takes full advantage of services offered to him or her. Having learned all servics avaialble. 4)Resolution - Occurs when the client is freed from identification with helping others gather strength to assume independence. Resolution is direct result of completion of other three phases.
