-It seeks to address questions such as how a moral outcome can be achieved in a specific situation
-It is the criteria used to determine whether a behavior is bad or good

Moral rules vs rules of prudence

-Morality is learned by every child as part of the socialization/acculturation process.
-The first step is learning to distinguish between moral rules and rules of prudence.
-When individuals act prudently, they act in their own self-interest. (e.g., Brush your teeth; bath regularly)
-When individuals act morally they take into account the interests of others (e.g., do not lie, do not steal).
