The two hemispheres performing different functions

The two brain hemispheres were split apart by severing the corpus callosum, and the hemispheres can no longer communicate

Band of neural fibers that attach the two sides of the brain together and allows the two hemispheres to communicate with each other

Most right-handed and left-handed people process speech in the left hemisphere, but some left-handed people process speech in the right hemisphere or in both hemispheres.

Helps show where the mind and the brain are the same and where they differ in order to understand how people are conscious or how minds work

Allows people to keep long-term goals in mind and help prepare/plan, and helps recognize danger by understanding other humans (read facial expressions)

Having separate conscious and unconscious understandings, like 'hummingbird' vs 'hummingbird's color, speed, distance, etc)

Shows that even if we are not consciously aware of something, we may be unconsciously aware of it.

- Perceptual Tasks (big picture) - Inferences (boot, summer, ground -> camp) - allows spatial modulations (will this fit?) - face recognition and sense of self - memory for shapes and music - regulation of negative emotions
