* Read medication administration record and remove the medication(s) from the clients drawer.
Verify that the client's name and room number match MAR.
* Compare the label of the Medication against the MAR
* If the dosage does not match the MAR, determine if you need to do a math calculation
* Check the expiration date

* While preparing the medication (e.g. Pouring, Drawing up, or Placing unopened package in a medication cup), look at the medication label and check against MAR

* Recheck the label on the container (e.g., vial, bottle, or unused unit-dose medications) before returning to its storage place.

* Ask about other allergies
* Make sure they are able to swallow
* Make sure Medication is not Expired
* Ask how many pills they are able to take at a time if more than one.
* Inform Pt what medication you are giving them
* Get Pt name and Date of Birth
* Wash Hands
* Introduce
* 30CC before and after for crush, slush, flush
* No more than 10CC for mutable medications
* Always use gloves.
