What is Visual Perception?

Visual Perception is the cognitive process of interpreting information that is seen by the eyes. It includes recognizing, understanding, and making meaning of what is being seen. Visual perception is an active process that involves making sense of previously learned information, as well as new sensory input from the environment. It also involves forming judgments and decisions based on what we perceive.Visual perception can be divided into two sub-categories: perceptual constancy and depth perception. Other important aspects of visual perception include attention span, figure-ground distinction (the ability to distinguish an object from its background), spatial relations (like size constancy or shape constancy), color vision, motion detection, pattern recognition, and emotional responses triggered by viewing certain images. Visual Perception also plays a role in memory formation; it helps store specific details associated with experiences so they can be recalled later on when needed.
