Autobiography
In 2009, my life underwent major transformations upon discovering my pregnancy. The journey from taking the pregnancy test to delivering my daughter profoundly affected me mentally and physically. It all started one morning at approximately five a.m. when I entered the bathroom. As of late, I had been frequently waking up during the night and early mornings due to a pressing need to urinate.
After realizing I had missed my period, I made the decision to take a test that would greatly impact my life. When the second line appeared on the pregnancy test, a mix of excitement and fear flooded over me. Expressing my emotions became difficult as countless questions swirled in my mind - what steps should I take? How do I share this news with my family? How will I provide for our child? ...e's reactions seemed impossible. Nathan, who is the father of our daughter, had recently faced unemployment but had just enlisted in the United States Army and was set to begin basic training in August.
Despite earning just slightly above minimum wage as a part-time hostess and living with my mother, I had to make every effort to stay calm. Upon returning to the bedroom, my body immediately went numb, unsure of how Nathan would respond to the news.
Seated on the bed, I gradually sat down. Just as he awoke, I disclosed, "I'm pregnant." Nathan remained composed and responded, "Alright, we'll discuss it later." Both of us turned over and returned to slumber. Later in the day, we had a conversation and agreed to resolve things gradually.
I phoned my closest friend Kaylani and informed her first. We made plans t
meet up and talk about the situation. Eventually, I decided to bring her along when I informed my mother.
