question
Admission at Marquette University
answer
Marquette's admission office does not recalculate a new composite ACT or SAT score. They have "pooled" admissions: The first deadline is 12/1, and after that, they go to rolling. Students are advised to have app in by early to mid-October. If you apply after 12/1, the best you can hope for is WL. This year 2,000 applicants were offered WL, 900 accepted that offer, and so far 700 of those have gotten in. So being on the WL gives you a pretty good shot of being admitted. They offer admission to WL kids before and after May 1, but no later than June 9.
question

Students need to apply for scholarships online by 2/1. Students will be automatically considered for a community service award of $1,500 if they provide a high level of detail, including # of hours, about their service experience.
question
Freshman fontiers program at Marquette University
answer
Marquette's Freshman Frontiers Program (FFP) is an academic assistance program for students who are able to do daily college prep work and do above average, but whose test scores would prevent them from admission. There is no separate app; students are referred to FFP by admissions. FFP offers a conditional admission; students must successfully complete a 1-month summer program prior to freshman year.
question
Location of Marquette University
answer
Milwaukee, WI; Marquette's urban campus affords internship and recreational opportunities. A UPass is included in every student's tuition. Safety is a focus. A busy street bisects campus. On one side is the "residential campus," and the other side, which has more of an enclosed campus feel, holds all the academic buildings. Campus was decent, not beautiful. A long-term highway construction project will improve campus access when it wraps up. Marquette is building a new student services facility and law school; they are also in the fundraising stages for a new engineering building.
question
Student culture on campus at Marquette University
answer
It seems to be a sports-related student body. Basketball is a big deal. Lots of students participate in a wide-reaching club sports program. And I saw lots of students out jogging. 17% of the student body have domestic minority backgrounds. My tour guide says most students stay on campus on the weekends. I have heard otherwise, though, and I wonder about that, given that 75% of the student body hails from WI or IL. 60-65% of the student body identify as Catholic. 9% of undergrads are in the Greek system. Marquette has a dry campus.
