Hate speech is defined as any communication that denigrates a person or group on the basis of attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability or gender. It includes words, slurs and other forms of expression which incite discrimination and violence against those groups. The prevalence of hate speech has been increasing in recent years due to the rise of extremist ideologies and social media platforms serving as vehicles for these messages to be heard by vast audiences. This type of hateful rhetoric often targets marginalized communities who are already facing systemic oppression in different areas of life. It can lead to further marginalization through creating hostile environments where individuals feel unsafe expressing their identities openly without fear of backlash or worse discrimination. Moreover, it creates divisions within societies based on differences between people’s characteristics that should be celebrated not criticized thereby contributing to destabilizing social cohesion and peace-building efforts. In addition to this psychological damage which ranges from feelings insecurity about belonging in society with individual’s own identity being questioned all the way up to increased risk for physical harm inflicted upon minority groups due to incitement created by hate speech – it also serves as a barrier for progress towards more inclusive societies when laws regulating hate speech are not enforced properly across states and countries around the world .It is therefore essential that governments take measures preventing dissemination hate speeches while at same time protecting freedom opinion expression , so important part democratic systems .
