A composition is formal writing that takes various forms such as a joke, an advertisement, a play, a poem, etc. It is the way language is applied to specific literary genres. You must follow the rules for the specific genre.

Writing pieces vary in length depending on what you are asked to do or want to do - Sometimes you have to write a paragraph or a poem. Sometimes you have to write a 5 paragraph essay.
