Imperialism was a larger country taking over a smaller one. This meant that the small country provided labor and resources. This was economically beneficial to the larger country.

The point of the palmer raids was to capture individuals interested in starting a radical revolution and bring them to justice. However, they were very evasive and violated people's privacy. Officers entered homes and offices without search warrants, suspects were jailed indefinitely and not allowed to talk to their attorneys. And many of the 600 immigrants deported never even had a court hearing.
