Conflict creates energy. If there is conflict in the psyche, that creates friction which creates heat which is equivalent to energy.

The psyche

The mind is a closed system. Energy that appears in a mind will automatically be balanced by energy that appears in a different part of the mind.

The mind is trying to even out the energy throughout your mind. Like water....it tries to spread everything out evenly

Self-Realization

a state of balance. To get to a level where everything is in balance.

part of your mind where things have been repressed because they created too much anxiety

Everyone is born with certain types of information already in them. This is not instinct this is actual information. You have ideas expressed as images.

self-realization. This drives everything we do. If you ever achieve self-realization you will achieve transcendence

Jung thought it was a very healthy thing to think of some higher power. Religion was a rational function in society and the exact form does not matter

The mask you wear in public. The role that you take on in different situations. A false front. Imagine, its the weekend and you're with friends. How do you behave with friends as opposed to you're friends parents?

All the personal things you do, the bad side of you. It can also exist in the collective unconscious; a universal symbol of evil. aka the devil. Its an evil shadow, some negative force.

always making sacrifices

the hero overcomes difficulty and becomes over powerful and knowledgeable because of this.

Literally the wise old man

Anima--> the feminine side of men. Animus--> masculine side of women

The embodiment of harmony, balance, unity, and being whole.

you are at a place in your life where you have achieved balance. Still face difficulties and conflict but you can handle it. Its an idea that whatever life throws at you after transcendence you can deal with it. Reaching transcendence can not happen until middle age at the earliest.

The flower symbol, also represents your orientation to life. Looking for answers in the outside world you are an extravert. Looking for answers in the inside world you are an introvert

refers to your tendency to be intellectual when you respond to things.

refers to your tendency to respond emotionally when things happen

your tendency to take things at face value. What it looks like is what it is

Jung stated that one of these pairs is dominant in your psyche

occurs when you have a mild disruption in life ex. phobias.

occurs when you have a major disruption in life. ex. lose sight of reality.

for Jung there were right and wrong answers. ex. blue normal: pretty neurotic: color Because you are not living in the moment and not in tune with your emotions

more practical side to dreams. Yes its a symbol of your unconscious but its not a symbol with negative meaning, what that dream means is a possible solution to a reoccurring problem. Its guidance, a suggestion on how to make life better.

you pick one word to play word association with. You keep repeating that word again over and over to the client. This is stressful for the client because you have to keep saying something different everytime.
