Asch Study for Informational Social Influences. Original study, 50 male college students and 6 acting college male students and then 1 real participant. they held up 3 comparison lines, they were then asked to match one of the 3 lines with the 1st one. There were 18 different trails, 12 of trails the actors were asked to lie. They looked at whether the real participant would conform to what the rest of the group was saying or would they stick to their own answer. They found that overall a 3rd of the critical trials the real participant went along with the group. When they looked at the participants individually about 3/4 went along and conformed and about 1/4 didn't. They then talked to them afterwards anfvthey found they would often say they didn't want to be the only person saying that thing. S- Very Controlled and standardised S- Good replica but don't always get the same percentages and results A- Temporal Validity A- Not ecologically valid A- If it was done now it may not get as much conformity

Informational Social Influences, Sherif 1935. This study was an Autokinetic Effect Expeof riment. They got people to look individually at a spot of light in the dark. Then asked them how fast they thought it was moving. The participants come up with different estimates. They were then put into groups of 3 and manipulated the groups so 2 participants had really similar estimates and 1 that had no where near the same estimate. He found that the person that had a completely different estimate started to conform to the other estimates due to informational social influences. A-the task was ambiguous as the light did not actually move. A- not ecologically valid S- Highly controlled.
