Even though Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred are similar in their success and are philanthropists, they differ in their fields. This essay will compare and contrast two famous individuals: Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred. They both changed the world in their own way. Steve Jobs is most notably known for co-founding Apple Computers and Opera Winfred is known for her multi-award winning talk-show. Even though Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred are similar in their success and their childhood, they differ in their fields.
The first similarity that Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred have in moon is their success. Steve Jobs was born on February 1955 in San Francisco, California. He was an artist, a technologist and a great marketer. Though he was a college dropout, he was a genius. He became a genius through deliberate practice to develop targeted
...skills. He researched and read about the great people who inspired him and some of them even became his mentors. He applied their proven success principles to his own life.
For example Thomas Edison the great American inventor inspired Steve the technologist, singer Bob Dylan inspired Steve the artist and Regis McKenna the marketing guru of Silicon Valley inspired Steve the marketer. He co- founded Apple Computers alongside his childhood friend Steve Woozier. At first the duo struggled to keep the company; however, they succeeded without selling company's shares to the public. Whereas, Opera Winfred born on January 1954 in Cuckoos, Mississippi is known for her world's famous TV talk show the "Opera Winfred Show'.
She had been inspired by Barbara Walters a senior talk show host. She started off as a news anchor o
a local radio station where she talked about life related issues. That blew up into even bigger and greater things to a point that when she received her own talk-show it became syndicated around the world and it's been like that for the last twenty five years. As a host Opera was able to connect with her audience and interviewees by revealing stories about her childhood.
For example in 1986 she disclosed that she had been sexually abused, and also discussed about her weight and relationships problem. Her show was appealing because she was covering subjects related to our daily lives. Her form of communication attracted so many people and she became an inspiration in the world. She came from humble beginnings but made it to the top through hard work and self-determination. Today she owns her TV network. Success is one similarity that Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred have in common. Another similarity that Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred have in common is their childhood.
Steve Jobs was born to unwed graduates John Sandals and Carols Sociable but was given up for adoption because having a child outside of marriage in the sass was frowned upon and also because Carole's father did not approve of her relationship with her Syrian-born lover Sandals. Stave's birth parent's anted the adopted family to be a college graduate but later settled for the Jobs' because they promised to send Steve to college even though they were not rich. Little Steve proved to be a curious child; so, he learned how to read at the age of five.
Unfortunately for him, knowing how to read became something of a
problem. For example he found school so dull and dreadful because it was not at all challenging so he and his friend got their kicks out of causing havoc. He did not want to follow instructions and was bored with being in class. He felt different from his classmates UT his parent's thought he was very special, exceptionally bright and exceptionally strong-willed. Some of his teachers however, saw him more as a troublemaker than a special kid. Despite all of his troublemakers he excelled in school.
Whereas, Opera Winfred like Steve Jobs was born out of wedlock to Vernon Winfred and Veranda Lee. Opera was sent to live with her grandparent's on the farm simply because her parent's couldn't afford the cost of raising a child. As a child Opera would stand on the back of the porch and watch her grandmother Hattie Mae boil clothes in a big iron pot because at the time there were no washing machines. Opera was also taught how to read at an early age. She too excelled in school and fell different from other kids in her school.
She was sexually abused by a friend of the family, and later by her uncle. Opera's grandmother was a maid that's all she ever knew. The only real expectation she held for Opera was that she would one day become a maid. But Opera had another dream for herself. Though Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred come from different backgrounds, another similarity that they have in common is their childhood. A difference between Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred is their fields. Although he studied physics, literature and poetry at Reed College,
Oregon before dropping out Steve Jobs' field of study was Technology.
His love for technology was due to his fascination by it ever since he was a kid. Technology is comprised of products and processes created by engineers to meet our needs and demands. Technology is the science that helps humans improve their living condition; it constantly evolves. An example of this is with Stave's Apple I the first computer he ever made. You can't use an Apple I today because there's no software for it and because it can't do today's computations. Whereas, Opera Winfred studied speech and drama in school but her field is media.
Media is the communication by publication or by broadcast. Opera did media broadcasting. She started up when she was Just three years old; she would recite speeches in church, then she would work at a local radio station, then do Journalism work until she got her own show. This is how Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred differ in fields. Although being two inspiring people through success and their childhood, both Steve Jobs and Opera Winfred chose different fields. They achieved success through determination and hard work; hey both grew up in difficult conditions.
