STUDY – Chemistry Flashcard

HEALTH
Normal state of normal anatomy and physiology.
DISEASE
Result from abnormal body functioning and structure.
ANATOMY

Form and structure of the body and its parts.( what things look like and where they are located.)

PHYSIOLOGY
Functions of the body and its parts.(how things work and what they do)
MICROSCOPIC

Deals w/ structures so small that you need a microscope to view them
Ex: Cells and tissues.

MACROSCOPIC

Also called “gross anatomy”, Deals w/ structures largeenough to view without aid of a microscope.
Ex. mucles, organs and bones

REGIONAL

Study all the components of each section of the body at one time

Ex: head – blood vessels, nerves, muscles, bones, cells, tissues, organs

SYSTEMIC
Study individual body systems at one time.

Main body systems

Skletal, integumantary, nervous, cardivascular, respitory, deigestive, muscular, sensory, endocrine, urinary, reproductive, and immune (lymphatic)

sagittal
divides body into left and right parts
median
equal left and right parts
transverse
divides body into cranial and caudaul parts
dorsal
divides body into dorsal and ventral parts
superior
toward the head
inferior
towards the feet
posterior
towards the backside
anterior
towards the front side
deep
towards center of the body
supericial
towards the surface of the body
proximal
towards the body trunk
distal
away from body trunk
visceral
covers the organs
parietal
lines the thoraic cavity
systemic
something that is spread throughout the body
