Map Scale
helps readers calculate distance or the amount of space between two locations
Is an area with one or more features that set it apart from other areas.
Relative Location
A reference point. A location of something in competition to the location of something else.
Absolute Location
Pinpoint, exact. Uses specific pairing of latitude and longitude.
Map Legend/Key
Explains the colors and symbols that are found on a map.
Thematic Map
Presents information related to only one theme or topic.
Physical map
Indicates the distance of something
Political map
are designed to show governmental boundaries of countries, states and counties. They can also indicate the location of major cities, and they usually include significant bodies of water.
Compass Rose
It tells you were to go. North, South, East OR West.
Cardinal directions
These are the arrows on the compass that point to the north, south, east, or west
intermediate directions
North west, north east, south east, south west these are halfway between these cardinal points.
