This section, as the heading implies, shall discuss the perceptions of the respondents with regard to the current status of supply management in the healthcare industry in general. It consisted of several statements that the respondents must rate using a Likert-scale, which contain the following values: 5- Strongly Agree; 4- Agree; 3- Undecided; 2- Disagree; and finally, 1- Strongly Disagree.

The first statement is concerned with the practices of supply chain management that are present in the Healthcare Industry nowadays, choosing from the different tools enumerated by the researcher: (1) the Global Location Number; (2) the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code; (3) the Global Trade Item Number; (4) the Global Data Synchronization Network; and finally, (5) the Radio Frequency Identification. The respondents were then asked to rate the presence of the said tools using the Likert-scale earlier discussed.

With regard to the Global Location Network (II1a), the responses of the survey participants were only focused on two levels: 5 (Strongly Agree), the highest rating given to the statmet and 4 (Agree), the lowest. The next statement is concerned with the status of supply management practices of the healthcare industry when compared with that of the other industries (II5). Moreover, the survey questionnaire also asked its respondents to analyze another important statement that is needed in order to determine the current status of SCM within the American healthcare industry (II10). This item states, inadequate business education and SCM capabilities among hospital-based buyers is one of the challenges experienced by the healthcare industry that hinders them from developing efficient supply management practices.

This eventually garnered various ratings once again, with 5 (strongly agree) as the highest and 1 (strongly disagree) as the lowest. It also produced a mean of 3. 71, with a standard deviation of 1. 03. These then only show that the varied answers show that the respondents are generally undecided when it comes to this perception regarding the American healthcare industry. The questionnaire also looked into the need for the employment of strong supply managers to ensure the success of SCM practices within the healthcare industry (II11).

When analyzed, the highest rating given by the respondents for this item was a 5 (strongly agree) and the lowest, a 2 (disagree). It then produced a mean of 4. 20 and a standard deviation of 0. 91, revealing that in general, the one hundred and fifty respondents of this study agree that the healthcare industry must be able to hire strong supply managers to ensure the success of their practices. It also looked into the perceptions of the managers with regard to their opinions concerning the need of the industry to develop their own practices and tools for SCM (II12).

For this item, the highest rating given was still a 5 (strongly agree) and the lowest, a 1 (strongly disagree). These responses then produced a mean of 4. 12, with a standard deviation of 0. 97, showing that in general, the respondents agree with the eleventh statement. The last characteristic analyzed under this category was: Outsourcing is one of the practices adopted by the members of the healthcare industry as an essential part of their supply management tools (II13).

Just like the previous statements, it was also given a 5 (strongly agree) as the highest rating and a 1 (strongly disagree) as the lowest. Due to this, it produced a mean of 3. 38, with a standard deviation of 1. 20, showing that the respondents were relatively undecided on whether outsourcing is indeed being used as a tool for SCM in the American healthcare industry.
