integers | the set of whole numbers and their opposites |

opposite integer | two integers that are the same distance away from zero |

positive integer | integers to the right of zero on a number line |

negative integer | integers to the left of zero on a number line |

rational number | any number that can be written as a fraction; a/b when "b" is not equal to "0". Examples: Fractions, decimals, repeating decimals, integers, percents, are all rational numbers. |

absolute value | the distance a number is away from zero on a number line |

coordinate plane | the flat surface created by the x-axis and the y-axis lines |

x-axis | the horizontal line on the coordinate plane |

y-axis | the vertical line on the coordinate plane |

origin | the point where the x-axis and y-axis lines intersect |

ordered pair | a pair of coordinates that represent a point on the coordinate plane |

coordinates | numbers used to plot points on the coordinate plane |

the 4 quadrants | the four regions on the coordinate plane |

line of symmetry | a line that divides a figure into two halves that are a reflection of each other |

reflection | a point on the coordinate plane having the same location but in a different quadrant |
