Abortion is the medical or surgical termination of pregnancy. Abortion has been a controversial topic for many years with some people arguing that a lady ought not to compelled to carry a pregnancy if she is not willing to have it for the full period of nine months. They claim that a woman is entitled to making decisions concerning what they want or do not want to do with their bodies. On the other hand, other people argue that abortion is a crime and it even against religious teachings as it takes a life of a human being hence it is against God’s will. Those who oppose abortion also advocate for punishment for those who carry out abortion so that it can be a lesson to other who might wish to do it. In many countries abortion is illegal. Nevertheless, such laws are routinely being challenged in courts. There are various reasons why women carry out abortion for instance feeling that one is young for responsibilities as well as being in an unstable relationship. This paper will depict that abortion is not okay as it is violates a basic right, it is a sin, brings about more problems in addition to punishing the wrong person.

Firstly, carrying out an abortion is a violation of civil rights. According to Ensor et al.,“We want our lives to go according to our plans .The baby is sacrificed to secure them” (105). Civil rights are violated when individuals are in a discriminated or denied their fundamental rights for instance right to live. Children who are unborn once aborted are robbed off

their life –which is one among the essential rights of all. Owing to where they are located (mother’s womb) and considering they will develop there, some mothers opt to terminate them. This is cruel and very inhuman, and it is not different from murder. It is very unfair that the act of terminating a pregnancy punishes those who do not deserve it. A child is usually innocent as in the first place they had not requested to be conceived. A child ought not to die owing to the irresponsibility of their mother or father. A child does not have a decision in their parent’s taking ineffectual contraception or their act of having sex. In this regard, an unborn child is innocent and does not deserve to be punished.

Additionally, abortion brings about more problems though some think that by terminating a pregnancy they are solving an issue. It appears that termination erases a problem as one will be able to continue with school or as one’s parent will not find out that a daughter was pregnant.”Desperate to be relieved of unwanted pregnancy, women would thus endanger themselves in the process of obtaining an abortion” (Rae & Scott B, 133).However, what the women fail to fathom is that their termination only hides the problem. Just because one has terminated a pregnancy successfully without complications, does not mean that what one has done will be forgotten, needless to say, that simply because abortion is allowed does not mean it is right.

who engage in such an act. According to Perrucci & Alissa C, “The source of a patient’s conflict with abortion can be emotional, spiritual, or mental” (120). The most tragic results of abortion are that the lives of some women are lost as they try to terminate a pregnancy. Regardless of the fact that abortions have been known to be done successfully, one cannot be guaranteed that they will not have complications afterward or will not die in the process. Women who carry out abortion are at risk of losing their fertility or an augment in miscarriages consequent to termination of a pregnancy. The process of abortion is an unsafe procedure which women are engaging in choose to risk.

Some individuals argue that termination of a pregnancy ought to be justified in cases of a rape whereby it is argued that the lady did not deliberately engage in unprotected sex. Nevertheless, one problem cannot be solved by assuming the existence of another human being. In such a case, the father’s right should be ignored altogether rather that reacting to the tragedy of rape by murdering an innocent child. The child ought not to pay for his rapist father’s action; instead, those who are raped should be taken care of compassionately. Nevertheless, compassionate attention is not inclusive of executing a rape victim’s unborn baby.”Whether or not a fetus is human, killing humans should be illegal” (Gabbay& Michael J, 16).Women who are raped should not be guided towards the path of abortion but would be counseled on accepting the pregnancy in addition to loving the child once they are born. They should also be counseled on the advantages and disadvantages of abortion. Furthermore, despite the child being a result of rape, the lady might opt to terminate and regret later when she fails to deliver the planned children she would want to have in future; hence they would rather spare the one they already have regardless of the source.

Abortion is an offense against God as He is the giver of life and He ought to be the only one who takes it at His convenient time. The teachings of the Bible concerning abortion are very clear that it is considered as murder. Therefore, women who opt to carry out a termination should understand that they are acting against the Will of their Creator. As per the Bible, there are no compromises probable or exceptions allowable for abortion. Whether a woman aborts a one-month pregnancy or an eight-month pregnancy, it is all sin in the eyes of God. This is because the existence of a human being in a woman’s womb begins at conception. The weight or the size of the fetus does not matter, what matters is the essence-that it is a new human being in existence. Considering this, abortion is not a solution to solving one’s problem.” Religious identification is a powerful influence in people’s attitudes toward abortion, though the role of religious identification is moderated by ethnic differences. Research has demonstrated that among US Latinos, conservative Protestants oppose abortion at higher rates than Catholics” (Shehan et al, 16)
