Term Definition
Difference The result of subtracting two numbers.
Product The result of two numbers being multiplied together.
Quotient The answer to a division problem.
Integer The set of numbers containing zero, the natural numbers, and all the negatives of the natural numbers.
Rational Number The set of numbers that can be written in the form a/b, where a and b are integers and b is not = to 0
Numerator The top part of a fraction.
sum The result of adding two or more numbers
Denominator The bottom part of a fraction.
Mixed Number A number written as a whole number and a fraction.
Proper Fraction A fraction whose numerator is less than its denominator.
Positive A real number greater than zero.
Negative A real number that is less than zero.
Absolute Value The distance of a number from zero; the positive value of a number.
Divisor In a / b = c, b is the divisor.
Dividend In a / b = c, a is the dividend.
Factor One of two or more expressions that are multiplied together to get a product.
