The Importance of Internships

Growing up in school, students are constantly reminded that getting a decent salary requires college education. Over the years, it has become clear to many young people that this statement is true. However, as the need for employment increases, so does the need to be more competitive in the workplace.

As our generation has grown up knowing that college graduation is a necessity, college education is no longer enough to be competitive in the job market; Therefore, our generation has created a new requirement to find the right job after college.

The first step in finding an internship is determining what you need. For example, if you are a freshman in college, you may be interested in learning about the different internships that can help you determine your main or final career path.

Interns are generally required by the corresponding college or university to complete a period of up to a month or more. Students are generally expected to acquire new skills, apply concepts and ideas they have learned in school, and demonstrate and develop appropriate workplace etiquette and behavior (e.g. professionalism) under the supervision of employees.

One of the main advantages of internships for students is that students who have internship experience allegedly have advantages in the labor market, which can become their easiest acceptance for subsequent jobs. You can learn a lot about your strengths and weaknesses during your internship. Internships provide feedback from managers and other field workers and offer a unique learning opportunity that you may not be able to receive again as an adult.

Our review of the internship perception study shows that internships are generally a useful activity. Employment seems to be growing, and students tend to receive both work and organizational training. However, we found that the internship experience could be improved. We encourage both students and employers to be more involved in the process; clearly explain the preconditions and expectations; and include practical activities such as training and journaling.
