1.1 Outline guidelines, procedures codes or practice relevant to personal work
There are several guidelines I have to follow in order to fulfill my job role, for example the safety of employees and the business. I have to keep a record and monitor the movements of the key fobs. Each fob is numbered and 1 fob is assigned to each employee in the main building. This is recorded by name and number. The spare fobs are for visitors, if they require one. I must make sure I record which fob is handed out and to whom. Due to the nature of the business, you need a key fob to enter the building and the rooms, so if one fob is lost, misplaced or taken without notifying me this is a breach of safety and its imperative the movements of each fob is tracked correctly.
Procedures are more formal and if not followed correctly could have negative consequences, for example the Fire and Evacuation Procedure. When we enter the building the staff must all sign in using the clocking board, locating by the main doors. This simply shows if we are in or out of the building. When the fire alarm goes off, whether it be a practice run or an actual alarm, all employees must evacuate the building via their nearest exit, mine being the main front doors. We must leave everything behind and leave the building quickly but not run and calmly as possible to out dedicated assembly point, assembly point A, located across the car park. We will have our names checked off by the appointed fire or safety manager, who would use the signing board (this is detachable from the wall) and only return to the premise once we are told it is safe to do so.
1.2Explain the purpose of planning work, and being accountable to others for own risk
Planning work is important for many reasons. One main reason is that it makes you, as an employee, more efficient in your job. If you plan your jobs for the day and also priorities them, jobs won’t get missed and you will be able to tackle the most important, urgent jobs first.
Being accountable to others can bring a sense of ownership to the job by making you know that others are counting on you to perform a task and deliver results resulting in that the job will be completed to a high standard in a quick time.
1.3Explain the purpose and benefits of agreeing realistic targets for work
The purpose of agreeing realistic targets for work enables you to complete jobs in a timely manner. This should enable to you become more organised and help priorities your work load. If, however, targets are unrealistic, you may feel overwhelmed and stressed resulting in work being rushed, and if completed, possibly be at a poor standard. Therefore the work would not have been completed to the best of your ability and may result in your employer to think less of your capabilities, resulting in new tasks being delegated to you in the future.
1.4Explain how to agree to realistic targets
One way to agree to realistic targets is to discuss with the person who has delegated the task(s) to you, the timescale of each specific job and coming to a mutual agreeing as to when the task should be completed and in order that it is achieved with the best result.
1.5Describe ways of planning work to meet agreed deadlines
One of the most effective ways of planning work to meet agreed deadlines is to create some form of list and priorities each task by using the 1-2-3 system or sing an electronic calendar which enables you to add all tasks and tier deadlines. With electronic calendars you have the facility to set reminders which will flag up at the specific times you state to remind you of that specific task and its deadline.
1.6Explain the purpose of keeping others people informed about progress
Other employees, or the task delegator, may be requiring your work to be completed enabling them to carry out their own work. Therefore keeping them informed of your progress will enable them to priorities and arrange their tasks and workload around yours.
1.7Explain the purpose and benefits of letting other people know work plans need to be changed
If you current task is also part of someone else’s, where this other employee needs your work completed first for them to be able to complete their task, it is important to let them know if you need to change any plans that you have previously agreed on.
1.8Describe types of problems that may occur during work
Many problems could occur during work such as failure in technology. A way of dealing with this is to contact the supplier who deals with this and notify them as soon as possible for them to be able to fix the problem quickly as possible. Other problems could be colleagues being off sick and you may be required to cover their job roll(s). However, you may not be competent enough or lack experience in that department which could result in incomplete tasks and also the possibility of falling behind in your own work.
1.9Describe ways of seeking assistance with getting help to resolve problems.
One way in which you could seek assistance with getting help to resolve problems would be to ask someone with more experience or knowledge enabling you then to complete the task in hand. The sooner you spot the problem the better as this will enable you to act on it sooner and hopefully without any effect on the timescale you have been given to complete the task.

By recognising mistakes and accepting them will enable you to learn from them and hopefully prevent them from happening again, which could possibly result in less time wasting, resources and money. Outcome 2: Understand how to behave in a way that supports effective working

Setting high standards people will be aware of what they should expect from you. By setting high standards ensures you work to the best of your ability and know the standards you have to meet.

Ways to setting high standards is to put 100% effort into everything you do, spot your weaknesses and work to improve those accordingly. Making sure you complete tasks to the highest standard as you can and checking it for any mistake and rectifying those accordingly.
2.3 Explain the purpose and benefits of taking on new challenges if they arise
There are many benefits with taking on new challenges. One would be that it would give you the opportunity to learn new skills and build up on your knowledge and experience. If you have quite a mundane job roll then taking on new challenges may provide you with more variation to your everyday tasks.

Change may be due to a number of factors, but it is usually to improve the business in some way. Changes to job roles may give you more responsibility and may lead to more opportunities to further your career. Changes to how you work may lead to things being done more efficiently.

One main benefits of treating others with honesty, respect and consideration is if they receive it, they will more than likely return it and treat you the same. This of course will make working relationships between colleagues and also the working environment very calm and friendly and all in all will have a knock on effect working performance, motivation and staff moral.

Everyone’s individual behaviour is important in the workplace because everyone plays a vital role within the company. One person’s negative outlook can disrupt the process of those around them. The workplace can become a hostile environment quite easily; therefore it is everyone’s individual responsibility to ensure they have a good attitude towards other staff members and even visitors.
2.7Describe types of behaviour at work that show honesty, respect, and consideration and those that do not.
The types of behaviour at work that shows honesty, respect and consideration are listening to other people’s suggestions and ideas and providing them with a honest and fair response. If an issue arises, seeking a solution that will benefit those involved and won’t provide one colleague with an unfair disadvantage. Typical negative behaviour can include ignoring people, not listening properly, disrespecting people’s ideas, spreading rumours and going against confidentiality and all forms of bullying.
