Environmental Air Pollution Essay
My views of the environment are rooted in my belief in creation. I do not believe that life on earth began spontaneously, nor do I believe that the earth is so delicately balanced. I dont believe that the earth and its ecosystem are fragile. Many radical environmentalists do, they believe man can come along, all by themselves and change everything for worse. After hundreds of millions of years, they believe that we are the last two generations of human existence. And they think we can destroy the earth all by ourselves? I simply cannot believe this view of man and his works. I refuse to believe that people, which is also a result of Creation, can destroy the best creation in the universe. Although some arrogant radical scientists believe that they are capable of unlocking every door of the universe and above all else, capable of understanding it, it is a fact that there are some things in this world that man just cant understand, and cannot understand, and we must accept these things in faith.
This one small planet has the conditions that are necessary for life and is perfectly placed in our solar system. If we
We could not destroy the earth even if we wanted to. The earth is over 4 billion years old. Man has been here for no more than 200,000 of those years. We cannot even come close to creating the forces of nature, yet these forces have been around for 4 billion years. And yet, the earth is still here. Mount Pinatubo, in the Philippines, spewed forth more than a thousand times the amount of ozone-depleting chemicals in one eruption than all the chloro-fluorocarbons ever manufactured by evil man and possessed corporations in all of history (RLimbaugh, The Way Things Ought to Be, p155). So now scientists say that 4-6% of the ozone loss could occur over the Northern Hemisphere over the next 2-3 years (RLimbaugh, The Way Things Ought to Be, p155). Remember: this has been going on for billions of years and we still have a healthy ozone layer. Again, the facts are here, man cant even come close to equaling the CFC output of a volcano.
Conclusion, Mother Nature has been attacking her own ozone layer for millions of years, and its still here. We have only been measuring ozone since 1956 (RLimbaugh, The Way Things Ought to Be, p155). And scientists still claim that they know enough for us to change our lives. Maybe the largest environmental worry in the recent years is the potential problem of the Earth heating up because of mans abuse of the environment. There is little evidence behind these theories, and most of these theories are being voided after each new study. Scientists say a supernova 340,000 years ago disrupted 10% to 20% of the ozone layer, causing only a sunburn in prehistoric man (RLimbaugh, See I Told You So, p178). Has man ever created anything even close to the radioactivity and explosive force of a supernova? My answer: doubtful. And if pre-historic man only got a sunburn, how can we get cancer from air conditioners and spray paint? The environmentalists enjoy gloom and doom. When the ozone theory has faded, environmentalists will come-up with new theories like the myth that cell phones cause cancer.
Well, these same scientists made the following predictions twenty-five years on Earth Day, 1970: A. In ten years, city dwellers will need gas masks to breath. B. In a decade, Americas rivers will have reached the boiling point. C. In ten years, all important animal life in the sea will be extinct and vast area of coastline will be evacuated because of the stench of dead fish. D. Five years is all we have left if we are going to preserve any kind of quality in the world. (A-D: RLimbaugh, See I Told You So, p180) We here claims like these every day. Yet, these were not made last week, they were made more than twenty years ago. It was Life magazine that claimed our air would be so polluted by 1980 that we would have to wear gas masks (RLimbaugh, See I Told You So, p180). It was commentator Edwin Newman who was predicting the boiling rivers. And it was Paul Ehrlich who was responsible for the last two statements (RLimbaugh, See I Told You So, p180).
And to add to the list, the University of California predicted in 1977 that if the present trend continues, the world will be four degrees colder for the global mean in 1990 (RLimbaugh, See I Told You So, p180). We are now told that the same pollution that would cause these colder temperatures will also cause the melting of the polar ice caps. Not all of this information came from Rush. Popular Science Magazine also stated identical concepts. For example, they state that from 1880-1940 the average temperatures increased. And it is also stated that from 1940-1980, the average temperatures were decreasing (Lansford, p284). So Rush is not the only person saying this. IT IS FACTUAL, the earth goes through cycles. Especially the cycle of warming and cooling (Lansford, p284). Ozone is created by the sun, particularly ultraviolet sunlight. And yet we are encouraged to believe the earth will come to an end because of occasionally reduced levels of ozone in the Northern Hemisphere. These levels always seem to rebound to normal.
Why is that? In fact, technology we have today actually helps reducing air pollution, and these scientists do not seem to realize it. They also cant comprehend that 96% of the greenhouse gases are natural (Lansford, 9184)(RLimbaugh, See I Told You So, p154-155). Why do these people always have to try to repair problems of the United States? We are the cleanest country in the world with maybe the exception of Switzerland, which is a big museum anyway. Look at Mexico, they have more environmental laws than we do, and they cant enforce them (RLimbaugh, See I Told You So, p108). The earth is not as bad as some people make it out to be. People need to judge for themselves and not let these liberal bureaucrats do it for them. It is proven that the earth goes through cycles and history does repeat itself. It is also proven that there is no way to predict ozone measurements, even one year in advance, not even ten years down the road. So before you trust theories, look at the facts and judge for yourself.
