Sleep deprivation can make you fatter by increasing the hormone ghrelin which causes one to eat more. The immune system is also compromise when you are sleep deprived and you are more susceptible to get infected. This explains why sleep deprived people live shorter lives than those who get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation can also have devastating effects in the world. Driver fatigue is one of the most common reasons of traffic accidents and deaths. Many major industrial and commercial accidents happened when operators were most likely to be tired. He should also avoid caffeine after early afternoon, and avoid food and drink near bedtime, such as the pizza and beer. One thing that might help him is drinking milk, because it provides raw materials to manufacture serotonin, a neurotransmitter that facilitates sleep. He should understand that having a stressful day can lead to a bad night of sleep. Therefore, he should try to manage his stress level and most likely he will sleep easier and better at night. If nothing else works, he should settle for less sleep by going to bed later or waking up earlier.

There are possible major sleep disorders that could be affecting Hogan also. One of these is sleep apnea. In sleep apnea, the victim stops breathing at night and must wake up to continue breathing. They usually do this many times a night and are not remembered by the sufferer. If this is the case, then he can use an oxygen mask that will keep his airway open and allow him to breathe the entire night without any internal disturbance. He may also have insomnia in which it is a medical condition of inability to sleep. In either case he should see his doctor about his conditions and have it evaluated to see if his trouble sleeping is a medical condition or not. Sleep is very important and should be taken care of.
