Sugar cane (Saccharin officinal) is the only crop cultivated in Sir Lankan to manufacture sugar, although there are crops such as coconut, kittle and Palmyra which can be used to manufacture sugar based substances such as jaggier and treacle. Sugarcane has been cultivated in Sir Lankan since sass. About two decades ago, in 1 sass, sugarcane was cultivated in about 25, 000 hectares. But, it has come down to around 1 5,000 ha, and most Of it is cultivated in the Minerals District. At present, only Appellate ,Asseverating Sugar Industries, and Savonarola Sugar Industries are involved in commercial production of sugar.
Hungarian sugar factory which was closed for a long time started to cultivate sugarcane and Cantle Sugar Industry expected to cultivate sugarcane in Cantle in the near future. Y-products of the sugarcane industry y and is made from molasses. This is the portion of the sugarcane juice which contains sugars other than sucrose (what is normally consumed) and a number of other organic compounds. One of the compounds formed during fermentation of molasses is ethanol. In addition to sugar, about 12 million liters of ethanol are produced annually at the two factories in Savonarola and Appellate.
Another by-product of the sugarcane industry is basses which could be used to generate electricity. In addition, animal feeds, basses based fiber boards, biogas, numerous organic compounds such as acetone, butane etc. Re other by-products of the sugarcane industry. Developing the Sugar Sector: Developing the local sugar sector will result in an improved production of sugar, ethanol, electricity and a host of industrial chemicals and thereby saving a considerable amount of foreign exchange. Increase production of sugar in the country will increase our food security.
It will also increase employment opportunities in areas such as Substantially, Battle, Abdullah. Mapped, Kankakee etc. Where there is a very high degree of poverty. Hence, increased cultivation of sugarcane will lead to considerable socio-economic development of the country. In future it plan to establish sugar factories in Clinching and Redisplayed also. This report data consist of data of Appellate sugar industrial Ltd. Which is the laxest sugar factory of Sardinia. 1 Appellate sugar industrial Ltd appellate Sugar Industries Limited (SLIPS) is a one Of largest sugar factory in Sir Lankan.
It is situated in Monaural district. Appellate Sugar Company was established in 1981 by the English group “Booker Agriculture International”. In 1 990 it was converted to Public Limited Liability Company. On 25th March 2002, 53. 33% of the shares of the company were sold to Master Divers which s today the first owner of SLIPS with 83. 33%. Performance and Strengths Annually 50,000 tons of brown sugar is produced in Appellate Sugar Industries limited which is 10% of the national sugar requirement. And also 30000 1/day of 96% Alcohol is produce as a by product.
This alcohol is used to make pharmaceutical product and human consumption. More than 5500 workers are establishing in the company as a full time and part time. Also company is cultivated cane around 2, 700 hectare. And also 7,600 of out growers that spread in Minerals, hallway and are around the factory. All the basic requirements of the factory are supplied by using many. SLIPS is generated 3. 2 MM of electric power by running the steam turbine. This is more than enough for the factory operations. Excess power is supplied to 680 of quarters and office complex without any payment.
Drinking water requirement is achieved from KAYOED those are also purified. That water is supplied to all the local residences and to the factory. All quarters are maintained by industry without charging any payment. All facilities such as electricity water and furniture’s are supplied by industry. Every land and house maintainers are also carried out by Agriculture industry. Organization Accept the factory effluent treatment plant, power house, work shop, water treatment plant are very use full for engineering student. 2 process in sugar factory 2. Method of checking and pricing of cane Before entering the supply vehicles into factory, Quality of the each cane load is checked by the quality control section. Cane will be divided into four grades according to there quality which are A, B, C, and D depend on trash percentage or rearmament. There are two cane grading method, one is trash percentage method for fresh or mature cane, other one is rendering valve method for burn or immature cane. For fresh cane About 1 0 stacks of sugar cane are selected randomly from load and juice is got from those stems.
Then the refractors meter reading of juice is got and see whether refractors meter reading is greater than 17. 5. If its greater than 17. 5, only calculate trash percentage of the cane load. Trash is tops, leaves, water shoots, roots, sand and mud. Tops that should be removed from those stacks that are immature white in color, water shoots that are less than one meter in length. To calculate trash percentage, about keg of sugar cane stems are weighted (WI) and trash is removed from the weighted sample and weigh again (WWW). Hen trash percentage is calculated in the cane load and graded.
