Benvolio Mask Essay
For my Benvolio mask. I chose the colour blue for trueness. the dove’s wing for being a conciliator. and the eyeglass to stand for wisdom. In public. when Benvolio enters the scene. he sees work forces with raised blades so he told them to “put up your swords” ( 1. 1. 76 ) . Tybalt so enters and Tells Benvolio to pull his blade but Benvolio tells Tybalt that he should “part these work forces with me” ( 1. 1. 82 ) . This shows that Benvolio wants no force but instead peace.
Since a dove’s wing means peaceableness. honestness. and religion. I chose the dove’s wing because Benvolio has all these traits. After the battle. Romeo is seen sorrowing about his purged bosom and Tells Benvolio adieu. but Benvolio tells Romeo that he will “go along” ( 1. 1. 196 ) and if Romeo leaves him. so he will “do [ him ] wrong” ( 1. 1. 197 ) . True friendly relationship and trueness was exhibited in this scene which is represented by the colour blue on the mask.
I put blue as the background of the mask because it’s significance is loyalty and Benvolio shows this by labeling along with his friends and seeking to comfort them and pass on with them. When the Capulets arrive into the public topographic point. Mercutio calls Tybalt out to contend him. but when Benvolio sees the danger point. he tells the work forces to “withdraw unto some private topographic point. and ground in cold blood of your grudges. or else depart. ” ( 3. 1. 50 ) .
When no work forces heed Benvoilio’s warning. Mercutio is killed and Romeo looks for retaliation and he achieves it with a fallen picket Tybalt. Benvolio tells Romeo to “be gone” ( 3. 1. 134 ) . and to “stand non amazed” ( 3. 1. 134 ) since the “prince will destine thee death” ( 3. 1. 136 ) and “if thou art taken: hence. be gone. off! ” ( 3. 1. 137 ) . This shows how wise and cognizant Benvolio is. A eyeglass represents this because when one wears a eyeglass they have the impulse to believe deeper.
